In such an important encounter, the red and green representatives trounced Afghanistan by 68 runs. With this victory, Najmul Hossain Shanto’s squad evened the three-match series at 1-1.

Bangladesh leveled the series. Bangladesh won the toss and decided to bat on Saturday (November 9) at Sharjah Stadium in the United Arab Emirates. Captain Shanto’s fifty, combined with Zakir Ali’s careful batting, helped Bangladesh score 252 runs for seven wickets in 50 overs.

Shanto hit 76 runs off 119 balls, while Zakir Ali remained undefeated with a fast 37 from 27 balls. For Afghanistan, Nangalia Kharote took three wickets.

 

Afghanistan lost an early wicket while chasing a total of 253. Gurbaz was removed with a team score of 18 after scoring only two runs off eight balls. Taskin Ahmed made the first breakthrough for Bangladesh by getting him out.

Sediqullah Atal then continued to bat alongside Rahmat Shah, who had stepped to the crease. They created a partnership of 52 runs. However, with a team total of 70, Sediqullah was removed for 39 runs off 51 balls.

Following his removal, captain Hashmatullah Shahidi joined Rahmat at the crease, and the scoreboard remained active. They formed a partnership of 48 runs, during which Rahmat reached his fifty.

Bangladesh got back into the game by claiming three Afghan wickets between team scores of 118 and 119. Shahidi was dismissed for 17 off 40 balls, Rahmat for 52 off 76, while Azmatullah Omarzai went out without scoring.

 

Gulbadin Naib attempted to rebuild the innings alongside Mohammad Nabi, but he was removed for 26 runs off 25 balls for a team total of 163. Soon after Naib left, Nabi returned to the pavilion and scored 17 off 21 balls.

After that, Rashid Khan attempted to fight. However, Afghanistan quickly lost three more wickets and was bowled out for 184 runs in 43.3 overs. Bangladesh’s Nasum Ahmed grabbed three wickets, while Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Mustafizur Rahman each took two.
