Cyberattacks on banks are dreadfully increasing: Bangladesh Bank. The trend of cyberattacks on banks in Bangladesh is rising at an alarming rate, according to Bangladesh Bank. In response, the central bank has requested banks and financial institutions to take various precautionary measures.
SM Tofayel Ahmad, Additional Director of Bangladesh Bank’s Information and Communication Technology Department, issued this suggestion in a letter to all banks and financial organizations.
According to the letter, routine information security monitoring and reviews by Bangladesh Cyber Security Intelligence (BCSI) showed illicit transactions in various Bangladeshi banks where dual currency cards were utilized with Facebook Ad Manager. It has also been noted that these transactions are resulting in losses for normal clients. Cybercriminals using various social media platforms are constantly harassing the general public and bank customers in the country.
Bangladesh Bank has stated that the trend of cyberattacks is increasing globally. In Bangladesh, the trend of cyberattacks on banks is also alarmingly on the rise. Banks are frequently falling victim to various malware attacks. To protect themselves from such cyberattacks, the central bank has requested that banks urgently implement 17 specific measures.
