On a four-day (4) official visit

On a four-day (4) official visit, a U.S. labor delegation has landed in Dhaka. The Biden administration’s U.S. labor delegation has begun a four-day official visit to Dhaka with the goal of enhancing collaboration in support of a sustainable economy, stability, expansion, and the development of high-quality, meaningful jobs in Bangladesh.

On a four-day (4) official visit… After reaching Dhaka, the delegation met with a labor group called the Solidarity Center on Friday morning (November 22) to talk about the working conditions. They are expected to meet with several government stakeholders and the International Labour Organization (ILO) later in the day.

The U.S. Department of Labor Deputy Undersecretary Thea Lee and Special Representative for International Labor Affairs Kelly M. Fay Rodríguez are leading the mission.

The group will meet with owners of clothing companies, labor union stakeholders, and temporary government representatives throughout the tour. In order to determine the most effective ways to assist Bangladesh’s economy, democracy, and labor force, they will also consult with representatives of American businesses who are investing in the apparel industry as well as international labor specialists.

The tour highlights the United States’ dedication to global labor standards, economic development, and the advancement of sustainable growth, development, and prosperity.
