On December 4, the ‘Bangladesh Secretariat Officers and Employees United Council’ called for a significant assembly at the Secretariat. The ‘Bangladesh Secretariat Officers and Employees United Council’ has announced a grand assembly at the Secretariat on December 4 to advocate for the implementation of nine demands, including the elimination of pay disparities and the creation of a national pay commission that includes employee representatives.
On December 4….. Md. Badiul Kabir, the head of the council, made the announcement of this initiative today, Thursday, at a meeting held on the Secretariat grounds. In the event that their declared demands are not met by December 4, Badiul Kabir said, the great assembly will take place on that day.
The demands also call for the restoration of the previous 100% pension and gratuity system, the restoration of the time scale and selection grade for all levels of employees, the exemption from income tax of officers’ and employees’ annual incomes up to five lakh taka, the implementation of Secretariat allowances akin to those of the President’s Office and a Ministry of Defense rationing system, the raising of the retirement age by three years to 62, the revocation of all unfair orders issued by previous governments, and the provision of retroactive seniority along with financial benefits, among other things.
