The Barapukuria Thermal Power Plant’s production has been totally shut down. All three units of the Barapukuria Thermal Power Plant in Dinajpur have shut down, bringing electricity production to a complete halt. However, authorities have assured that power generation is expected to resume within a week.
The Barapukuria Thermal Power Plant’s: On Tuesday afternoon (February 18), the plant authorities were forced to shut down the 125 MW Unit 1 due to a boiler leakage.
The matter was confirmed by the chief engineer of the power plant, Abu Bakker Siddique. He stated, “Production has been halted due to a ruptured boiler tube. We expect to resume power generation from this unit within a week.”
According to reports, the Barapukuria Thermal Power Plant has a total electricity generation capacity of 525 MW. Units 1 and 2 each have a capacity of 125 MW, while Unit 3 has a capacity of 275 MW.
Among them, Unit 2 has been out of operation for a long time due to mechanical issues. Units 1 and 3 were producing 230 MW of electricity until Unit 3 was shut down on February 15 due to a mechanical failure.
