The matter was confirmed by the chief engineer of the power plant, Abu Bakker Siddique. He stated, “Production has been halted due to a ruptured boiler tube. We expect to resume power generation from this unit within a week.”

According to reports, the Barapukuria Thermal Power Plant has a total electricity generation capacity of 525 MW. Units 1 and 2 each have a capacity of 125 MW, while Unit 3 has a capacity of 275 MW.

Among them, Unit 2 has been out of operation for a long time due to mechanical issues. Units 1 and 3 were producing 230 MW of electricity until Unit 3 was shut down on February 15 due to a mechanical failure.

With only Unit 1 remaining operational, the recent boiler leakage forced its shutdown on Tuesday afternoon, leading to a complete halt in power generation from all three units of the plant.
