2 people died after being run over by a train in Ramu, Cox’s Bazar. 2 adolescent motorcyclists were killed after being knocked over by a train in Ramu, Cox’s Bazar. The event took place today, Thursday, about 3:15 PM, in the Machuakhali section of Rashidnagar Union, Ramu Upazila, on the Cox’s Bazar-Dhaka Railway Line.
2 people died. The deceased were identified as Mohammad Wahid (25), son of Mohammad Hossain of Kahatia Para in Rashidnagar Union, and Mohammad Hossain (19), son of Abdul Majid.
Imon Kanti Choudhury, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ramu Police Station, confirmed the event, stating that about 3:15 PM today, two local young men were crossing the railway tracks on a motorcycle in the Machuakhali region of Ramu Upazila. At the moment, they were hit by a train coming towards Cox’s Bazar, crushing the motorcycle and killing both young men on the spot.
After hearing the news, a team of police arrived on the location and recovered the remains of the two victims. The railway police were then notified of the event. According to OC Imon Kanti Choudhury, a team from the railway police came at the spot and rescued the dead, which were then sent to the morgue at Cox’s Bazar District Hospital for autopsy.
Local witnesses at the scene reported that there was no gate at the train crossing. Despite spotting the approaching train, the two teenage motorcyclists attempted to cross the tracks quickly and were struck by the train.
