Child who went to collect flowers on Shaheed Dibosh alleged rape. A fourth-grader has been accused of raping a student who went to collect flowers at the Shaheed Minar. The incident took place in Mithapukur upazila of Rangpur around 6am on Friday. Rafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Bairati Police Station, confirmed the matter.
Child who went to collect flowers: The injured were admitted to the One-Stop Crisis Centre of Rangpur Medical College Hospital, he added. A case was filed with the police station under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act.
According to police, the victim’s family and locals, the child went to Ruhul Amin’s house around 6am on Friday to collect flowers to pay homage to the language martyrs. Ruhul Amin is a surveyor by profession. When the child was collecting flowers from the flower garden of their house, he forced her into the house and raped her. On returning home after the Fajr prayers, some Muslims went to the house and rescued the child. Meanwhile, the accused fled the spot. The child was admitted to the upazila health complex. Later, he was shifted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital. The child is currently undergoing treatment.
Rafiquzzaman, officer-in-charge of Bairati Police Investigation Centre, said a manhunt was underway to arrest Ruhul Amin.
